CRU: THE FIRST ECO-CONCEPT BY VIRGINIE VONCKEN
A garment that is the healthiest of all is the one that uses no dye.
To redefine the foundations of sustainable fashion, Virginie Voncken did not start with a blank canvas but rather with a canvas of CRU colors. In response to the major issues associated with textile dyeing—and recognizing that even traditional raw garments are often bleached and dyed to ensure uniformity for retail—Virginie Voncken has created the CRU concept as a radical answer to this absurdity. This purist collection, made in France, consists exclusively of noble natural fibers, free from any bleaching or dyeing. CRU thus offers the first completely undyed wardrobe, respectful of both the environment and the skin.
CRU presents a vision of a future imbued with tranquility and elegance. The inaugural collection, titled "Le Temps Retrouvé" (The Time Regained), unveils a universe where nature has harmoniously reclaimed its space. Set against the backdrop of expansive Normandy beaches, small self-sufficient dwellings shaped like flowers have blossomed amid the remnants of Belle Époque villas. The collection’s film tells the story of Flora, from her home called Pétale, revealing the art of living in a new society founded on respect for the past and its resources.
Inspired by vacation attire along the Normandy coast, "Le Temps Retrouvé" merges the heritage of each generation to create a timeless style that evolves with its time. It intertwines the immaculate whiteness of Proustian silhouettes, the elongated lines of the 1920s, the hourglass shapes of the 1940s, the flared volumes of the 1970s, and the iconic knit sets of the 1980s, connecting eras without nostalgia but with a contemporary simplicity that preserves what is essential: emotion.

QUI EST VIRGINIE VONCKEN ?
A COMMITTED IDEALIST FOR A RESPECTFUL AESTHETIC
Stylist and artistic director, Virginie Voncken grew up in Seine-et-Marne in a house surrounded by a blooming garden. Her father, a painter passionate about Impressionism, instilled in her a love for drawing, while her mother, a skilled seamstress, made her appreciate fine clothing. She spent her summers in Cabourg or in Poland with her grandmother, a knitter, who introduced her to hand knitting. Naturally, this creative childhood led her to pursue artistic studies.
Graduating from the Estienne and Duperré schools, her artistic talent opened unique opportunities: creating hand-painted textiles for Christian Lacroix and knitwear designs for Lanvin. At the age of 20, she won a competition for Jean-Paul Gaultier and joined his haute couture studio. She later collaborated with Chantal Thomass, Nelly Rodi, and contributed to the modernization of the Lacoste brand alongside Christophe Lemaire and Felipe Oliveira Baptista. Eventually, she became the style director at Jacadi, infusing contemporary vision into children's fashion.
After 20 years of experience in prestigious French houses and becoming aware of the negative impacts of the globalization of the textile industry, Virginie Voncken launched her own brand in 2024. Virginie Voncken is a benevolent brand, uncompromising in its ethics and ecological footprint, dedicated to preserving local craftsmanship to make sustainable fashion more desirable.
Virginie Voncken is committed to combating overconsumption. She aspires to establish ecological elegance as a true movement, known as "Conscious Luxury."
